This pamphlet provides guidelines, recommended practices and other useful information for the safe shipping, handling (including loading and unloading) and receiving of hydrochloric acid in bulk highway transports. It represents a compendium of Institute membership experience as of the date of publication. It is particularly critical for receivers of hydrochloric acid bulk highway transports to be intimately familiar with the guidance provided in this pamphlet to help prevent the accidental mixing of hydrochloric acid with incompatible materials which can result in incidents having significant consequences, including severe injuries and/or damage to property.
